INDIANAPOLIS – For the second straight season and third time in Suffolk women's outdoor track & field's history, a Ram will head to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships as junior Sofia Moukaddem heard her named called in the official field in the 10,000.
For each women's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.
Moukaddem was one of the 20 in the 10,000 field after posting the 13th-best time amongst her DIII counterparts this season with a personal and program-best 35:20.76, which she achieved at the Bryan Clay Invitational April 16.
The Weston, Massachusetts product is the third Suffolk female to make the outdoor national field, first since Amalia Dorion accomplished the feat a year ago. She is the fourth-ever Ram to be selected to compete at outdoor NCAAs as Matyas Csiki-Fejer represented the men in 2022.
With the outdoor ticket, Moukaddem joins an elite group of Rams to complete the NCAA trifecta of competing at every NCAA Championship available in cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field in one calendar year. She joins, Csiki-Fejer, Dorion and Emily Manfra, who all took part at three national championships – in cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field – in one academic year during their respective times in blue-and-gold.
Moukaddem is set to lace up her spikes at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin with her race scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m.
