Drury, Women’s Track & Field Honored by Academics by USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk women's track & field was rewarded for its academic excellences as the team earned a spot on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team, while Tess Drury was tabbed an All-Academic Athlete, the national organization released this week. 

For a team to be considered, a squad must combine for a cumulative grade point average of a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester and/or quarter. 

The Rams, under head coach Will Feldman's leadership, combined for a 3.54 GPA, which sat 103rd of the 213 different NCAA Division III programs that were recognized with the distinction, which included Conference of New England (CNE) counterparts Endicott (3.61), Hartford (3.65), University of New England (3.6), Western New England (3.48) and Wentworth (3.22). 

It is the eighth straight team academic honor for Suffolk's women's track & field program, all of which have come under Feldman's leadership. 

Drury, meanwhile, received her first individual academic nod from the USTFCCCA for track & field. To be considered, a student-athlete must boast a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent grading period and be one of the top 50 individuals or on of the top 35 relay teams, as listed on the descending order lists of TFRRS or qualified for the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships. 

Drury, a sophomore from Richmond, Vermont, checked the academic requirement off as a psychology major with a 3.914 GPA and raced to top a top 10 spot in the 3000 in indoors and top 20 finishes in the 5000 in indoor and outdoor, respectively.   

This season, Drury is one of seven CNE student-athletes to pick up the feat alongside Endicott's Abby Griffith and Hartford's fivesome of Caroline Crocker, Madison DiPasquale, Tamara Greene, Jordan Murphy, Kayla Pelletier.
