Volleyball Rolls Past Daniel Webster, 3-1

The Suffolk University Volleyball team (5-8 overall) topped the Daniel Webster College Eagles by a score of 3-1 on Suffolk Spirit Night Tuesday evening.

The Rams took the eagles to an intense 4 sets to take the win. Maggie Hillman (Freshman from North Andover, MA) and Melissa Griffin (Junior from Byfield, MA) ran the offense with 15 and 10 total kills for the match, with help from setter Julie Sullivan (Senior from Haverhill, MA) who had a total of 23 assists throughout the night.

In the first set Suffolk pulled out a quick win, winning the set 25-16 thanks to Griffin's 4 kills and a whopping 7 digs by Jacqueline Dugas (Freshman from Saratoga Springs, NY).

Suffolk then fell behind in the second set unable to catch up, losing the set 16-25.

It was an intense third set as the Rams battled neck and neck with the Eagles eventually winning the set 25-21 due to the continuous tough serves by Kelly Loder (Senior from Billerica, MA) who had a total of 5 aces in the set.

However, it would be the fourth set that would showcase the incredible Maggie Hillman. Having a total of 7 kills this set and a body blowing 9 digs helped put the Rams ahead with a win of 25-15 for the set.

Overall Loder led the team with 4 blocks, while Hillman and Dugas recorded 19 and 17 digs each.

The Rams take on Simmons College, Thursday, September 30, at 7:00 p.m. at Simmons.
