BOSTON – Suffolk women's volleyball's tradition of tri-captains continues in 2025 as upperclassmen Chloe Clement, Grace Cervenka and Sami Shore have earned the titles for the 2025 campaign, head coach Scott Blanchard announced.
It is the fourth straight season that the Rams will have three captains.
Cervenka begins her second term in the role after earning the title a year ago, while Clement and Shore enter their first year with the responsibility.
"We're very excited about this year's captains," Blanchard said. "They all have a lot of game experience and will provide much needed leadership for a team that will be replacing some of the best players to ever play at Suffolk."
Blanchard continued, "They did a fantastic job last spring and I expect nothing less from them this fall."
The trio was crucial to Suffolk's winningest team last season that went 23-7 overall and was the fourth seed in the Conference of New England (CNE) Postseason Tournament.
Clement, an outside hitter that calls Lynn, Massachusetts home, had a career season in 2024 with 185 kills, 66 digs, 21 blocks and five aces. Off the court, the biology major became the first-ever Ram across all sports to be given the CNE Elite 20 award, which honors the individual that achieves the highest academic standing, while competing in the conference's postseason tournament. She achieved the feat behind her impressive 3.98 grade point average through four semesters.
Cervenka, that brought her talents to Beantown from Sugar Land, Texas, has been a force at the net as a middle blocker over the last three seasons. Over 82 matches she has amassed 140 blocks, 479 kills and 39 aces and holds one all-league second-team selection.
Shore, a junior that hails from Wrentham, Massachusetts, has been an all-conference performer in her first two collegiate campaigns. The middle blocker has assembled a 2.12 kills and 0.77 blocks per set average in the last two years.
The threesome look to pace Suffolk to more success in 2025 with the campaign scheduled to get underway Saturday, Aug. 30 at UMass Dartmouth. The Rams will first face Ursinus at 12:00 p.m., before taking on the host Corsairs at 2:00 p.m.
