Women’s Volleyball Stopped by Stockton in Straight Sets

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Suffolk women's volleyball lost to Stockton, 3-0, in its final contest of the Swarthmore Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Tarble Pavilion.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 0 | Stockton 3
RECORDS: Suffolk (6-10) | Stockton (7-5)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Out of a 9-all tie, Stockton rattled of a 10-3 run to put Suffolk in a 19-12 hole. That ground proved too much for the Rams to make up as the Ospreys flew away with the first frame, 25-14.
  • Similar to the first, the second stanza was locked at 9-9. Stockton snuck in front, 15-12. The Rams rallied back and jump ahead 17-16 thanks to three consecutive points all that Grace Cervenka played a role in as the senior had a block followed by back-to-back kills. The Ospreys used a timeout and managed to trim the margin to one, 21-20, which caused Suffolk to use a timeout of its own. The huddle did not pay off for the Rams as Stockston rattled off three consecutive to flip the script in its favor, 23-21. The teams traded points the rest of the way, which allowed the Ospreys to claim the set, 25-23.
  • The Rams trailed 13-8 before they clawed back with five unanswered to even things at 13. That stretch saw a pair of kills from Emily Norgrove and one each from Grace Cervenka and Aislinn Lanigan. The Ospreys did not give up the lead out of their own timeout, but Suffolk stayed close, 18-17. It was all Stockton from there as it outscored the blue-and-gold 7-1 the rest of the way to seal the set and match, 25-18.
