BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk women's volleyball dropped a Conference of New England contest in straight sets at Endicott Saturday at MacDonald Gymnasium. The setback came by set scores 25-13, 25-17 and 25-15.
THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 0 | Endicott. 3
RECORDS: Suffolk (10-15, 4-4 CNE) | Endicott (12-10, 5-1 CNE)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Suffolk grabbed the first two points on the afternoon courtesy of Endicott attack errors. The Gulls flew in front 17-7. The Rams were unable to rally out of their timeout as the host outscored the visitors 8-6 the rest of the way to claim the opening set, 25-13.
- The second stanza remained close with a one-point margin in favor of Endicott, 9-8. Suffolk fell behind 19-11 as the Gulls soared ahead behind a 10-3 scoring stretch. The Rams pulled within four, 20-16, as they went on a 5-1 run. That's as close as the blue-and-gold would get as Endicott close the set on a 5-1 spurt of its own.
- From a 7-all third set, Endicott poured in seven straight points to force Suffolk to play catchup once again, 14-7. The blue-and-gold managed to get the gap down to five, 17-15, but another Gulls scoring stretch, this time six consecutive points, made it 23-12. The Rams made one final push a kill by Emily Nogrove, Aislinn Laniganace and a block from Emmy Thomander and Sami Shore to make it 24-15. Kelsey Sanborn smashed a kill to end the visitor's hope and clinch the set and match for the host.
