Women’s Volleyball Awarded AVCA Team Academic Award
Suffolk women's volleyball picked up the AVCA Team Academic Award for the fourth straight year, seventh time overall.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the fourth time in as many years and seventh time in program history, Suffolk women's volleyball was recognized for its work inside the classroom as the Rams earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT, the national organization unveiled Thursday.
ABCA Team Academic Award distinction is handed out to programs that achieve a yearlong grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or a 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.
Suffolk received the award, which was created and has been handed out since 1992-93, for the seventh time, thanks to the team's 3.430 cumulative GPA. All seven of the Rams' AVCA Team Academic Award accolades have come under the leadership of head coach Scott Blanchard.
It is the second consecutive year that over 1,400 collegiate and high school programs received the honor. The Rams were among the 267 NCAA Division III teams to excel academically, including Conference of New England (CNE) foes Endicott, Gordon, Hartford, Nichols and Wentworth.
