Suffolk to Host 2023 NCAA Division III East Regional Championship

BOSTON – For the second time in the University's history, Suffolk Athletics will take on a NCAA hosting role as the NCAA has tapped the Rams hosting rights of the 2023 Division III East Regional Championship for 2023.
The gig is the Rams second across any sport in the University's Athletic program history, which spans 75-plus years, and first since Suffolk's cross country programs put on the regional races hosting hat in for the 2021 East Regional Championships.
"I am thrilled we have been selected to host NCAA DIII East Regionals again this year," Will Feldman, head coach of cross country/track & field said. "It's a testament to the investment that the university has made in the cross country program over the last several years."
Feldman continued, "Without the support of the University and the athletic department it would be impossible to host an event like NCAA Regionals. It's a massive undertaking, and a responsibility that we are proud to take on."
"Suffolk University is thrilled to be chosen to host the NCAA Division III East Cross Country Regionals for the second time under Coach Feldman's leadership," Director of Athletics Cary McConnell said. "It's a great event that attests to the growth and commitment of Suffolk Athletics in providing a first-class student-athlete experience."
Suffolk will welcome institutions from the East, compromised of all of Maine, New Hampshire, and Eastern Massachusetts, to Franklin Park in Boston, the second Saturday of November.
"Two years ago (2021), was a massive success and the feedback we received from the teams who participated was overwhelmingly positive," Feldman said. "Over the last four years we've been able to establish our home meets as some of, if not the best, in the region. That combined with our recent top 10 finishes at regionals for both the men and women have afforded us the trust and respect of the program sin the East Region when it comes to hosting regionals."
A year ago, the blue-and-gold men finished 10th, while the women took ninth. At Franklin Park in 2021 when the Rams hosted, the women grabbed ninth and the women sealed up 12th. Both of Suffolk's teams aim to improve on these performances this season.
The winner of the race on Saturday, Nov. 11, will not only be crowned regional champ, but earn a spot at the 2023 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships, which is scheduled to be held at the Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania.
