NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk women's cross country dipped two spots in the East in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings, the national office announced.
The Rams slipped two spots after finishing 20th at the Connecticut College Invitational over the weekend, which featured a dozen nationally ranked teams and numerous regional contenders.
Suffolk made its regional poll debut in the Week 7 edition of the 2021 campaign and has been present in all, but one since.
The Rams are one of two Conference of New England (CNE) teams featured on the Week 6 edition of the regional poll as Gordon made its season debut this week at 10th. The blue-and-gold is the only CNE institution to have both its men's and women's programs to receive regional distinction as the Rams' women's team is seventh in the East.
The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team's strengths with current season results, when applicable, to determine a ranking-order by squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly ranking by the USTFCCCA began in 2010.
Suffolk aims to defend its conference crown in two weeks at the 2024 CNE Championships in Springfield, Massachusetts, at Western New England.
