NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk women's cross country moved up to sixth in the East in the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings, the national organization announced.
The Rams moved up to sixth after capturing the 2024 Conference of New England (CNE) Championship over the weekend. Suffolk handled the eight-team field with a team score of 30, 37 points ahead of runner-up Roger Williams.
Suffolk made its regional poll debut in the Week 7 edition of the 2021 campaign and has been present in all, but one since.
The Rams are one of three CNE teams featured on the Week 7 edition of the regional poll. The University of New England, who finished third at the conference meet, slid into ninth, and Gordon, who claimed fourth at the league race, rounded out the region in 10th.
The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team's strengths with current season results, when applicable, to determine a ranking-order by squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly ranking by the USTFCCCA began in 2010.
Suffolk is back in action next Saturday, Nov. 16 when it hosts the NCAA Division III East Regionals at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, New Hampshire.
