ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Suffolk women's cross country started its 2025 season on a strong note as it finished fourth at the Short Course Classic Saturday morning at the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course at Highland Park.
The Rams compiled 157 points to finish fourth, the best showing of a NCAA Division III team. Northeastern (30), New Hampshire (57) and Holy Cross (74) found the spots on the podium to top the 17-team field.
SUFFOLK SCORERS
- Sofia Moukaddem was the best DIII runner at the event in 13th with a personal-best 3k time of 11:19.30.
- Grace Miller came through the finisher's chute in 11:37.83, good for 26th in the field of 190.
- Paige Estaphan's time of 12:16.35 was good for 44th.
- Chloe Koo was two spots behind Estaphan with a time of 12:19.92.
- Cassie Middleton (12:41.07), Bailey Ford (12:49.91), Kathleen Sullivan (12:51.44), Cassie Silkoff (12:51.54), and Gina Cappello (13:04.88) all raced to spots in the top 100.
- Megan Dunn (13:08.57), Laina Frasier (13:15.08), Taylor Farrell (13:16.97), Allison Martin (13:41.90), Katelyn Porter (15:07.66), Maria Gallant (15:07.66), Kaitlyn Cullen (15:36.03) and Katarina Ferreira (18:06.41) were all featured in the near-200 competitor field as well.
RAMS RECORDS
- Moukaddem had the best showing for a Ram at the event time wise with a a personal-best 11:19.30 effort. She is the second-ever Suffolk student-athlete to post a sub-12:00.0 3k at the Short Course Classic behind Pattelena, who was the first in 2023.
- Cappello (13:04.88), Dunn (13:08.57), Farrell (13:16.97) and Gallant (15:07.66) all rewrote their personal records.
DEBUTS
- Miller and Porter made their Suffolk debuts.
- Middleton, Sullivan, Silkoff, Frasier, Martin, and Cullen all made their collegiate debuts.
- Estaphan ran a 3k for the first time in her collegiate career.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Rams hosted their Suffolk Short Course Classic for the fourth time in program history, first since 2023 and first time at Highland Park.
