Women’s Cross Country Dips to Seventh in East in USTFCCCA Rankings

USTFCCCA RELEASE

NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk women's cross country moved to seventh in the East in Week 4 of the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings, the national organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

The shift two spots down came on the heels of the Rams 10th-place performance at the Blugold Invite in Colfax, Wisconsin. Suffolk raced to a top-10 finish and was the eight-best NCAA Division III tame at the Whitetail Golf Course in a 36-team field that feature four programs in the national top-30.

Suffolk made its regional debut in the Week 7 Edition for the 2021 campaign and has been present in all, but one since.

The Rams are one of two Conference of New England (CNE) programs to be recognized this week as the University of New England came in at ninth.

The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team's strengths with current season results, when applicable, to determine a ranking-order by squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly ranking by the USTFCCCA began in 2010.

Suffolk's sights have shifted to the James Early Invitational this Saturday, Oct. 11 at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts.
