BEVERLY, Mass. – Kaitlyn Cullen of the Suffolk women's cross country team raced to Conference of New England (CNE) Rookie of the Week behind her performance at the 29th James Earley Invitational over the weekend, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The freshman from Norfolk, Massachusetts, came through the finisher's chute of her first collegiate 5k in 24:43.62 to place 128th in the 167-runner field at Stanley Park Saturday en route to her weekly award.
Cullen is the second Ram to be recognized by the conference this season as Sofia Moukaddem has earned three CNE Runner of the Week (Sept. 2, Sept. 22, Oct. 6). The rookie of the week distinction is not only the first for Cullen, but marks the first time a Suffolk student-athlete picked up the feat since Gwen Koziara Oct. 18, 2021.
Suffolk will off from competition over the next two weeks to prep for the 2025 CNE Championship. The Rams aim to capture their fifth consecutive conference crown in as many years in the league on the campus of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts.
