New England Baseball Journal Release
BOSTON – Days away from the scheduled first pitch of the 2023 Suffolk baseball season, the Rams' designated hitter Harry Painter has been named to the 2023 Preseason All-New England Baseball Journal Division III team, the publication released in its latest weekly insider edition.
The team is NEBJ's projection of the top player at each position picked from all the New England region programs heading into the 2023 slate.
A dozen programs from six different programs are represented on the annual squad. Painter is one of four Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) student-athletes to make the squad, which can be found via the publication, here.
Painter is the first Ram to be recognized on the preseason list by NEBJ since Tim Brigham earned a spot in 2021. Overall, he is the third Suffolk player to pick up the feat in the Anthony Del Prete era as Brady Chant was recognized prior to the 2018 campaign.
A sophomore from Essex, Massachusetts, was the only player in New England to be named a d3Baseball.com Preseason All-American leading up to first pitch of 2023. The DH earned that nod after hitting safely in all, but one of Suffolk's 43 contests from last season en route to an All-American nod, the program's 10th. The CCC Co-Player of the Year brought in 47 runs behind 64 hits on a .403/.461/.742 slash line.
Painter and the Rams are scheduled to lift the lid on its campaign this weekend with a four-game slate against Lasell. First pitch is set for Saturday, March 4 at 12:00 p.m. at East Boston Memorial Park.
