Boston, MA -- The Suffolk University Men’s Basketball team
fell 86-70 to Mount Ida Thursday on Senior Night at Suffolk’s
Regan Gymnasium in Boston, MA.
Seniors Brian Small (Stoughton, MA) and Kevin Blake (Milford, CT)
were honored prior to the game as part of a special ceremony. Small
finished the game with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Blake netted
seven points in his first start of the season in 11 minutes of
play. Sophomore guard Mike Fleming (Exeter, NH) also scored 18
points for the Rams (2-15 GNAC, 3-21 overall), hitting four threes
and shooting 6-10 from the field.
Matt Bennett led the Mustangs (4-13 GNAC, 10-14 overall) with a
game-high 23 points and 14 rebounds. Bennett shot 9-18 from the
field and 2-3 from beyond the arc.
Mount Ida began the second half with an 18-7 run in the first four
and a half minutes to take a commanding 62-41 advantage. Suffolk
was unable to get within single digits for the remainder of the
game and shot just 36.7% from the field on the night.
The Mustangs led 44-34 at halftime after trailing 19-14 with 8:42
remaining. Mount Ida went on a huge 17-3 run in the next three
minutes to break ahead 31-22.
The Rams end their regular season at home Saturday at 4 pm when
they take on cross-town rival Emmanuel College.
