BOSTON – Suffolk men's hockey will have its work cut out for itself this weekend as two of the New England Hockey Conference's and the NCAA Division III teams head to Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink. Action gets underway in Charlestown Friday, Nov. 16 when No. 15/14 Babson stops by with the Beacons make the short trip to the town the following day. Both conference clashes are scheduled for 7 p.m. puck drops.

LAST TIME OUT
Southern Maine put away two early goals and they proved to be enough as Suffolk men's hockey could not make up the distance to fall 2-0 at the USM Ice Arena Saturday night.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk opened its NEHC ledger with a pair of shutout setbacks to head into the conference weekend 2-3-0 on the season and 0-2-0 in league action. 

Through five games the Rams have potted 13 goals with Jack Kelly's four leading the way. The sophomore forward sits atop the team in points as well with six with two helpers to go along with his team-high markers. Mikhail Bryan's two goals and three assists put the senior second on the squad in points with five.

In net, Michael Levine has seen the bulk of the action, starting all, but one outing for Suffolk. The senior netminder brings in a .941 save percentage and a 1.76 goals against average.

BEAVERS BREAKDOWN
Babson, who sits 15th in the latest USCHO DIII Poll and 14th in newest edition of the D3Hockey.com poll, heads into the weekend 4-0-1 overall and 3-0-1 in conference contests after defeating Castleton (2-1) and Norwich (5-3) last weekend. 

Nick Rosa paces the Beavers' 19 goal offense with nine points on six strikes and three helpers. Mike Egan is also a consistent contributor with eight points on a team-high six assists and a pair of goals. Tommy Munichiello (2g, 3a) and Matt Wiesner (5g) share third in points with five each.

The senior duo of Bryan Botcher and Matt Pompa has shared the netminding responsibilities. Pompa has three games under his belt with a .911 save percentage and 3.00 GAA to his credit, while Botcher, who has started two games, holds a .943 save percentage and a 1.44 GAA.

INSIDE THE SERIES

• Suffolk and Babson will meet for just the third time overall and first since 2011.
• The Rams have yet to take down the Beavers, trailing the series, 0-2-0.
• Babson has outscored Suffolk, 7-4 in the pair of matchups. 

EYES ON THE MATCH

BEACONS BITS
UMass Boston locked up ninth and 10th in the latest USCHO DIII Poll and D3Hockey.com Poll, respectively, thanks to its unblemished 5-0-0 overall and 4-0-0 league marks. The Beacons, who travel to Johnson & Wales Friday night prior to their Saturday showdown with the Rams, are coming off convincing wins over Norwich (4-2) and Castleton (6-1). 

UMass' 29-goal offense is the most powerful in the NEHC, averaging 5.80 goals per game. Nolan Redler leads the way with five for a team-best eight points with three helpers on his stat line as well. Nick Albano and Chris Peters sport identical outputs of two goals and five assists for seven points. Overall 20 skaters have recorded at least one point for the Beacons with 18 tallying multi-point outputs in just a handful of games. Chris Peters (2g, 5a) and Zack Bross (3g, 3a) round out the top five point scorers for the Beacons with six apiece. 

Bailey MacBurine has played every minute of action in between the pipes for Boston. The junior has given up just six goals in five outings for a 1.20 GAA and a .945 save percentage.

INSIDE THE SERIES

• Suffolk and UMass Boston renew a rivalry, which dates back to 1980, meeting for the first time since 2014 and 16th time overall.
• The Rams trail the all-time series 2-13-0 with their last win over the Beacons coming in a 2-1 decision Dec. 30, 2009.
• Suffolk's only two wins versus Boston have come under Chris Glionna's guidance.
