Cross Country to Host, Run at NCAA D3 East Regionals Saturday

BOSTON – For the fourth time in program history and third straight season, Suffolk men's and women's cross country will host the NCAA Division III East Regional Cross Country Championships Saturday, Nov. 15 at Hopkinton Fair Grounds in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. 

Nearly 40 teams will compete in the Granite State with the men's 8k race set for an 11 a.m. start and the women's 6k following an hour later with a trip to the 2025 NCAA Division III Championship up for grabs.

EVENT SCHEDULE

THE COURSE
The men and women from around the East Region will each be competing on the course at Hopkinton Fair Grounds. Maps of the courses are outlined here: men's 8k | women's 6k.  

AT-LARGE BIDS
Teams who do not top their respective fields Saturday will still have a chance to make the NCAAs as 22 at-large bids for squads will be awarded. Additionally, the top seven individuals from each regional, 70 total, who did not qualify with their team will earn a bid to the national championships as well.  

The entire 2024 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship field will be announced on NCAA.com on Sunday, Nov. 16 before 3 p.m. 

Suffolk has seen two women, Amalia Dorion and Emily Manfra, and two men, Tim Barry and Matyas Csiki-Fejer earn at-large bids to the NCAA Championships. Manfra earned a ticket twice, in 2018 and 2019, respectively, while Dorion is the most recent Ram to compete nationally in 2024. Csiki-Fejer was also a two-time NCAA Championship qualifier in 2019 and 2021, and Barry raced to nationals in 2023. 

ALL-NEW ENGLAND UP FOR GRABS
There are two all-region teams, one given by the USTFCCCA and the other handed out by the DIII New England Association.  

In order to garner USTFCCCA All-East Region, an individual must place in the top 35 Saturday, while the top 20 finishes at Hopkinton Fair Grounds will be awarded All-New England from the DIII New England Association.  

RAMS REGIONAL HISTORY

  • Suffolk's runners have made their presence known on the regional course over the last handful of years. 
  • The best showing by a male runner at East Regionals came by Matyas Csiki-Fejer in 2021 when he finished fourth with a time of 25:40.4. 
  • On the women's side, Emily Manfra holds a Suffolk's regional record with a 21:47.3, good for 14th in 2019.
  • Amy Pattelena will be the third Ram to run at her fourth regionals joining Sydney Fogg and Emily ManfraHayden Green will also compete at regionals for the fourth time in his collegiate career, just the second-ever male Ram to do so, first since Thomas Novy accomplished the feat a year ago.

SUFFOLK'S SCOUT [ MEN ] 

  • The blue-and-gold's men's squad will be going for a top 20 finish and have potential to climb into the top 15. 
  • Hayden Green will attempt to earn all-region honors for the second straight year. 
  • Sean Jacobsen and Matthew Ramarge will be close behind Green looking for top 50 performances. 
  • Senior Michael Najarian will make his regional debut. 

SUFFOLK'S SCOUT [ WOMEN ] 

  • The Rams women will be looking to improve upon last year's program-best fifth-place finish. 
  • Sofia MoukaddemGrace MillerTess Drury and Amy Pattelena all have great opportunities to qualify individually for nationals if the team falls short. The foursome will run as a pack similar to the Conference of New England (CNE) Championship course, where they finished first through fourth in that order.
  • Chloe Koo will be Suffolk's fifth runner Saturday. The freshman rose to the occasion at conference and has the potential to do so again this weekend. 
  • Megan Dunn and Gina Cappello will compete Suffolk's student-athletes in Hopkinton, New Hampshire this weekend. 

RAMS RECONGITION

  • Hayden Green became the first Ram in Suffolk men's cross country's history to capture an all-league accolade in every year of collegiate competition as he raced to a spot on the All-CNE Third-Team behind a 14th-place performance at the conference championships Nov. 1. 
  • Recognition poured in for the five-team CNE Champs, the Suffolk women's cross country team, headlined by Sofia Moukaddem's CNE Runner of the Year honor. 
  • Five Rams women raced to All-CNE distinction for the third straight season.
  • The foursome of Moukaddem, Grace MillerTess Drury and Amy Pattelena collected spots on the All-CNE First-Team, which marks the most first-team distinctions in a single-season in program history. 
  • Chloe Koo represented the Rams on the All-CNE Third-Team.

RAMS RANKINGS
Suffolk women's cross country inched up two spots in the East in Week 7 of the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the national organization announced Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Suffolk men's cross country turned in a fifth-place performance at the 2025 Conference of New England (CNE) Championships Saturday afternoon on the campus of Gordon College.

LAST TIME OUT [ WOMEN ] 
Suffolk women's cross continued its league dominance as the Rams raced to their fifth consecutive conference title at the 2025 Conference of New England (CNE) Championship Saturday on the campus of Gordon College.  

The first four runners that came through the 6k finisher's chute on the North Shore donned the blue-and-gold to clinch Suffolk's fifth title in as many years as members of the league. The blue-and-gold compiled 21 points, 53 ahead of runner-up Endicott. The University of New England completed the podium with 91 points.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Pending Saturday's showing, Suffolk's season will either conclude or continue at the 2025 NCAA DIIII Cross Country Championships in Spartanburg, South Carolina at the Roger Miliken Center Saturday, Nov. 22.
