HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams traded goals in the opening period to keep things even in after 20 minutes. Liliana Moose was responsible for the Rams strike as the sniped a slap shot from the top of the right face-off dot. She was helped by Bella Schmidt and Emma Holmes.
- Suffolk struck twice in the second to grab a 3-1 advantage. The go-ahead goal came 1:49 out of the locker room as Briana Anundsen found the back of the net for the first time in her collegiate career. The insurance tally was thanks to Alexia Hill on the power play at the 16:12 mark.
- As time dwindled in the third period WNE saw an opportunity late when Hill was sent to the sin bin for tripping. The Golden Bears pulled Rachael Irving from the net for the extra skater and it paid off as Jenna Lynch lit the lamp to trim the distance to one with 2:27 left in regulation.
- After the face-off Western New England had Irving head to the bench again for the added offensive boost, but this time it paid off for Suffolk as Emma Holmes put away an empty netter to seal Suffolk's victory.
