Women’s Soccer Blanks UMass Dartmouth, 1-0

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Suffolk women's soccer used a goal from Vivienne Murphy and a seven-save effort by Arden Rose to shutout UMass Dartmouth, 1-0, Tuesday night at Cressy Field.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | UMass Dartmouth 0
RECORDS: Suffolk (2-0-0) | UMass Dartmouth (1-1-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
UMass Dartmouth had the ball on the right sideline and attempted to clear its own zone. Gianna Maina intercepted the clearing pass, dribbled it towards the middle of the field and found a diving, wide-open Murphy. The sophomore sent a rocket towards the cage and scored past a glove-out diving keeper Tori Russo to give Suffolk the 1-0 lead at the 27:29 mark.

The score stood still in the second stanza as both sets of goalie gloves did their jobs. For the Rams, Rose denied all four shots she faced to preserve the victory.

  • Russo started for the Corsairs and allowed the lone goal of the night, the only shot she faced.
