WORCESTER, Mass. – Suffolk women's soccer bested Worcester State 2-1 on Wednesday evening behind second-half goals from Avery Porter and Daniela Petronio at John Coughlin Memorial Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Worcester State converted on an early corner in the 13th minute, when the ball dropped to Julianne Earnest in the center of the box, and she buried her shot to give the Lancers the lead.
- The Rams came out aggressive in the second half, drawing even in the 52nd minute when Porter headed home a corner service from Tatum Flynn.
- Petronio put Suffolk in front in the 58th minute. The senior slipped behind the Lancers' backline on a feed from Isa Peraza and finished past the keeper to the right.
- Porter came close to striking again, as her 65th minute header from a corner kick ricocheted off the crossbar from close range to keep it 2-1 Suffolk at the final horn.
KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS
- Arden Rose recorded seven saves in the outing.
- Ella Gumienny stopped seven shots in her 90 minutes of action for the Lancers.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Porter and Petronio were responsible for Suffolk's scorers with the latter owning the game-winner.
- Flynn and Peraza logged one assist apiece.
- Worcester State narrowly outshot Suffolk, 15-13, though the Rams were sharper on goal with a 9-8 edge.
