Women’s Track & Field Competes at Suffolk Ice Breaker Challenge

BOSTON – Suffolk women's indoor track & field hosted the Suffolk Ice Breaker Challenge at the Track at New Balance on Sunday.

RAMS RUNNERS

  • In the 60 dash, JJ Conteh finished sixth with a time of 8.13.
  • Leading the way for the Rams in the 200 was Conteh, placing 10th in 26.71, as Hilma Ortega (27.20), Rhoni Johnson (27.70), Kaylie Groom (28.02), Kelsie Dessaps (28.12), and Aida Bellal (30.07) also competed.
  • A ninth place showing in the 400 came from Groom, who stopped the clock at 1:01.74.
  • The 800 featured Katelyn Porter crossing the line sixth with a time of 2:20.85.
  • Suffolk's mile group was led by Amy Pattalena, who placed eighth in 5:16.26, while Grace Miller followed in 16th at 5:31.55.
  • In the 3,000, Sofia Moukaddem finished sixth in 10:03.86, followed by Tess Drury in 11th at 10:25.29.
  • A seventh place effort in the 60m hurdles was recorded by Ortega with a time of 10.13, while Averie Denelle ran a 10.60 in the prelims.

JUMPERS JIST

  • The long jump saw Dessaps finish eighth with a mark of 4.94 meters, joined by Dootchina Dorielan at 4.59 meters and Sophia Helfgott-Waters at 3.97 meters.
  • Also competing for Suffolk in the triple jump, Helfgott-Waters recorded a distance of 9.41 meters.
  • Denelle earned a ninth-place finish in the high jump after clearing 1.50 meters.
  • In the pole vault, Devyn Battistoni placed fourth after clearing 3.40 meters, while Olivia Coyne cleared 2.20 meters.

FIELDERS FACTS

  • The weight throw featured Hannah Laderoute with a 10.20-meter toss, followed by Abby MacMillan at 8.13 meters.
  • Laderoute also represented Suffolk in the shot put, recording a throw of 8.72 meters.

RAMS RECORDS

  • Dessaps recorded a personal-best 4.94 meters in the long jump and clocked a personal best 28.12 in the 200.
  • Groom posted a career best 1:01.74 in the 400.
  • Moukaddem set a personal record of 10:03.86 in the 3,000.

YOU'RE NEW HERE

  • Porter made her first appearance in a Rams uniform in the 800.
  • Drury competed in the 3,000 for the first time at Suffolk.
  • Rhoni Johnson raced in the 200 for the first time in her collegiate career.
