WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Suffolk women's outdoor track & field returned to action over the weekend at the Colonial Relays at Walter J. Zable Stadium in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Among the standout performances, Hilma Ortega broke her own program record in the 100m hurdles, and Grace Miller broke the program record in the 3000m steeple.
RAMS RUNNERS
- In the 100m hurdles, Hilma Ortega turned in a sixth-place finish with a time of 15.95, while Bailey Stoddard-Baughman followed in 13th at 16.39.
- Suffolk saw a strong showing in the 100, led by JJ Conteh with a 19th-place finish in 12.66, closely followed by Ortega in 12.67 and Rhoni Johnson in 12.73, while Kelsie Dessaps crossed in 13.32.
- Johnson placed 26th in 26.27 in the 200, followed by Conteh in 34th at 27.03, Kaylie Groom in 39th at 27.80, and Bailey Stoddard-Baughman in 40th at 28.08.
- Groom completed the 400 in 1:01.97, finishing 28th.
- Over in the 800, Cassandra Silkoff led Suffolk with a 22nd-place finish in 2:24.44, followed by Katelyn Porter in 26th at 2:25.15.
- Taking on the 1500, Chloe Koo crossed in 24th at 5:08.42.
- Grace Miller finished fifth in the 3000m steeple in 11:17.22.
JUMPERS JIST
- Dessaps posted a mark of 4.92 meters in the long jump, Stoddard-Baughman followed with a leap of 4.79 meters.
- Averie Denelle cleared 1.55 meters in the high jump.
RAMS RECORDS
- Ortega reset her program record in the 100m hurdles with 15.95.
- Miller set a program record in the 3000m steeple with 11:17.22, which currently ranks as the 16th fastest time in Division III.
- Conteh, Ortega, and Johnson each recorded career times in the 100 with marks of 12.66, 12.67, and 12.73, respectively.
- Stoddard-Baughman set a collegiate best in the 200 with a 28.08 finish.
- Silkoff recorded a personal best time of 2:24.44 in the 800.
- Groom set a personal record in the 400 with 1:01.97.
RAMS RELAYS
- The foursomek of Conteh, Dessaps, Johnson and Ortega combined forces in the 4x100. The group clocked a 49.66 to take seventh.
YOU'RE NEW HERE
- Stoddard-Baughman made her first collegiate appearances in the 100m hurdles and long jump.
- Dessaps debuted in the long jump for Suffolk.
- Johnson ran her first collegiate 200.
- Porter took part in her first 800 for the Rams.
- Koo made her first collegiate appearance in the 1500.
- Miller raced the 3000m steeple for the first time in a Suffolk uniform.
