BOSTON – Suffolk women's volleyball put on a show with a 3-0 victory over Mass. Maritime as in front of its home crowd for the first time in 2025 Tuesday night at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The Rams first win of the season came by set scores 25-17, 25-13 and 25-17.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set featured five tied scores and a pair of lead exchanges before Suffolk jumped in front for the final time 11-10. From there, the Rams rallied around a 6-1 stretch to build a 17-11 cushion. The Buccaneers barreled back with four quick points to slice the gap to two, 17-15. Things remained close over the next couple of serves before the host put away the first frame on a 5-1 run that featured kills from Grace Cervenka, Emily Norgrove and Jordyn Mik, an ace by Chloe Clement, as well as a block by Cervenka and Norgrove.
- Out of a 3-all tie, the Rams scored seven straight to make it 10-3. That distance grew to double figures 15-5 and the Rams rolled to the rest of the second stanza, 25-13.
- Up 9-6, Suffolk padded the margin to 12-6 thanks to a pair of Clement aces sandwiched around a triple block by Cervenka, Aislinn Campbell and Mik. The Rams kept the advantage to five points, 16-11, before MMA battled back and cut it to two, 18-16. Cervenka took over for the blue-and-gold as she served three aces down the stretch including the set and matching securing point with her fifth ace of the night to make it 25-17.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Clement contributed an all-around effort of eight kills on a .412 attack percentage with seven digs, four aces and one assist.
- Cervenka chipped in six kills, hitting .714, with five aces, two blocks and one dig.
- Mik registered six kills behind a .357 attack clip with two blocks and one dig.
- Sami Shore supplied seven kills and swung .636, with one block to her credit as well.
- Aislinn Lanigan set-up the attack with 20 handouts to go along with five digs and a pair of aces.
- Kathy Mo anchored the backline with 11 digs. The sophomore added three aces and two helpers.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk grabbed its first win of the season.
- Suffolk won its second straight home opener.
- The Rams have lifted the lid on their home schedule with straight set victories in the last two seasons.
- The Rams met Mass. Maritime for the 17th time in program history.
- Suffolk remains unbeaten all-time against the Buccaneers, 17-0.
- The blue-and-gold has swept MMA in all, but four meetings.
- Suffolk is a perfect 10-0 at home versus the Bucs.
- The Rams have only swept Mass. Maritime under Scott Blanchard.

- Lanigan matched a career-high 20 assists.
- Cervenka hit a personal-best .714 and served a career-high two aces.
- Aislinn Campbell tied a personal-best one block.
- Emmy Thomander matched a career high two digs.
- Mik rewrote career records in kills (6), attack percentage (.357) and blocks (2).
- Clement produced personal-bests in hitting percentage (.412) and service aces (4).
