BOSTON – Suffolk women's volleyball will it pulls the curtain back on its Conference of New England (CNE) calendar Wednesday, Sept. 24 against Johnson & Wales at 7 p.m. at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's volleyball closed out Saturday's tri-match with a five-set defeat to Worcester State at the Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The loss came by set scores of 28-26, 25-27, 15-25, 25-20, and 11-15.

RAMS RUNDOWN

  • Suffolk went 3-1 last week to inch closer to .500 on the year at 5-7 overall. 
  • The Rams' 9.73 kps offense, which is set-up by Aislinn Lanigan's 6.56 assists per set, is paced by Chloe Clement's 2.00 kps with Grace Cervenka (1.93 kps), Emmy Thomander (1.68 kps) and Sam Michon (1.67 kps) consistent contributors as of late as well. 
  • Kathy Mo and Mackenzie Heaney are the biggest factors at the service line with 0.58 aces per set and 0.51 aces per set.
  • Defensively, Mo holds down the backline with 4.42 dps. Clement chips in 2.71 dps and Thomander is a threat at the net with 0.73 bps. 

CNE OPENERS

  • Suffolk is 1-3 in its first CNE contest of the year.
  • The Rams won their first CNE opener in 2023 with a five-set thriller at Nichols, Sept. 23, 2023. 
  • Suffolk will open its CNE schedule at home for the third time and second straight season.
  • The Rams are 0-2 at home in its CNE debut.
  • Suffolk has competed against Roger Williams (L, 3-1), Gordon (L, 3-1) and Nichols (W, 3-2) and Hartford (L, 3-2), in the first CNE match of the season.
  • There has never been a sweep in the blue-and-gold's first CNE contest of a campaign.
  • Suffolk is 0-2 in four-set decisions in the CNE and unbeaten, 1-1, when a CNE debut goes five sets.

  • Johnsson & Wales split a tri-match over the weekend with a pair of five-set thrillers, a win over Eastern Connecticut State and a setback to Vasser to bring an 8-4 overall record to Boston.
  • Nevaeh Arnold (2.71 kps) and Vivi Mansfield (2.66 kps) produce over 2.00 kps each to pace the Wildcats' 10.96 kps attack that is set up by Sophia Santacroce (6.20 aps), who also serves a team-best 0.51 aces per set. 
  • Sierra Nausieda anchors the defensive with 4.98 dps. Ajie Jagne and Bailey Koopman provide a one-two punch at the net with 0.69 bps and 0.67 bps, respectively.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk defeated Johnson & Wales for the second time in program history a year ago, Oct. 3, 2024, to move to 2-28 all-time against the Wildcats. 
  • Wednesday's night meeting will mark the 31st outing and 25th conference clash between the Rams and Wildcats. 
  • Suffolk is 1-23 versus JWU when playing as conference competition. 
  • Ten (10) straight matches have been determined in straight sets.
  • Overall, 23 outings between Suffolk and the Wildcats have been decided in straight sets.
  • The Rams are 1-22 in 3-0 matches against Johnson & Wales.
  • The first and only sweeping win for the blue-and-gold over the Wildcats came a year ago, Oct. 3, 2024.

RAMS RECOGNITION
Suffolk women's volleyball had two players pick up Conference of New England (CNE) weekly awards as Kathy Mo was named CNE Libero of the Week and Emmy Thomander took home CNE Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday.  

Mo was instrumental to Suffolk's backline, while Thomander was dominant in the front line to push the Rams to a 3-1 week en route to their first collegiate weekly accolades.

SUFFOLK'S SCHEDULE
Suffolk heads to Swarthmore, Pennsylvania this weekend for the Swarthmore Invitational. The Rams open three three-match weekend Friday, Sept. 26 versus Scranton at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 pits the Rams against Swarthmore at 10 a.m. and Stockton at 3 p.m.
