BOSTON – The Suffolk women's volleyball team heads to the Swarthmore Invitational this weekend at the Tarble Pavilion. The Rams open the tournament on Friday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. against Scranton before taking the court twice on Saturday, Sept. 27 facing host Swarthmore at 10 a.m. and Stockton at 3 p.m.

Suffolk women's volleyball lifted the lid on its 2025 Conference of New England (CNE) calendar in dramatic and historic fashion as the Rams took down Johnson & Wales, 3-1, Wednesday night at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.  

Aislinn Lanigan inscribed her name in the Rams' record book as the newest member of the 1,000 assist club. The junior directed the blue-and-gold's 46-kill offense that took down the Wildcats for just the third time in program history.

RAMS RUNDOWN

  • Suffolk, winners of four of its last five matches, enters the Swarthmore Invitational at 6-7 following the programs first home CNE opener victory, a 3-1 decision over Johnson & Wales Wednesday. 
  • Aislinn Lanigan reached the 1,000 assist-milestone Wednesday and continues to pace the team with 6.76 aps. The junior adds 0.35 service aces per set.
  • Emmy Thomander, the defending CNE Rookie of the Week, has contributed 1.71 kps and leads the team at the net with 0.71 bps.
  • Grace Cervenka boasts a team-best 2.00 kps on a .278 hitting percentage, while Chloe Clement (1.98 kps)and Emily Norgrove (1.59 kps) pitch in from the outside.
  • Kathy Mo and Vicky Serrano share the duties on the backline, providing 4.49 dps and 2.00 dps, respectively.

ROYALS REPORT

  • Scranton enters Friday's matchup at 8-4 after topping Rowan (3-2) and Union (3-1) in a tri-match last weekend.
  • Deanna Whelpley leads the team in scoring with 3.96 kps on a .280 hitting percentage, while Danielle Kramer adds 1.92 kps and 0.28 aces per set. Outside hitters Erin Gretsky (1.78 kps) and Lauren Angelucci (1.94 kps) round out the kill leaders.
  • Cammi Quirk directs the offense with 9.80 assists per set.
  • Defensively, Camryn Hoffman protects the backline with 3.43 dps, while Adria Vargas averages 3.18 dps.
  • The blocking responsibilities are managed by Danielle Kramer's 1.06 bps.

  • Swarthmore sits at 7-6 following a strong finish at the Ithaca Invitational last weekend, sweeping Elizabethtown in its final match.
  • Isabel Adam is the primary offensive weapon, posting 3.35 kills per set, while Keira Miles contributes 2.08 kps.
  • The offense is run through two setters, Emily Sun and Madeline Mountcastle, who distribute 4.52 and 3.42 aps, respectively.
  • Melissa Eyer has anchored the backcourt with 4.73 dps. She is supported by Maya Sheridan at 2.05 dps.
