SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Suffolk women's volleyball began action at the Swarthmore Invitational with a 3-0 loss to Scranton Friday afternoon at Tarble Pavilion.
THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 0 | Scranton 3
RECORDS: Suffolk (6-8) | Scranton (9-4)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Scranton commanded the action early on as it scored the first four points and quickly put the Rams in a double digit, 13-3, hole. The blue-and-gold managed to muster a point here-and-there but ultimately could not find its offensive grove to slip in the first frame, 25-10.
- Suffolk picked up the pace in the second stanza that saw nine ties and four lead exchanges. With the set even at 19-all, the Rams could not stop the Royals who closed the stanza behind a 6-1 spurt.
- Down 5-1, Suffolk stormed ahead by a pair, 10-8, courtesy of a 9-3 stretch that featured two kills by Chloe Clement and a Grace Cervenka ace. From there, the score locked four ties and the lead swapped just as many as Scranton snuck back in front, 15-14. That gap grew to as many as three, 19-16, which forced Scott Blanchard to take his first timeout of the third frame. The huddle did not shift momentum to the blue-and-gold's favor, however, as the Royals ran away with the set, 25-18, and match.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Clement registered seven kills to lead the attack and add 13 digs to the backline. That defensive effort was matched by Kathy Mo as well.

- Delaney More and Aislinn Lanigan split the setter role as they dished out eight assists and seven handouts, respectively. The former added six digs, while the latter's stat line featured three digs, and one ace.
