Women’s Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Brandeis

BOSTON – Suffolk women's volleyball came up short in straight sets against Brandeis on Wednesday night at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The Rams were defeated by set scores of 25-11, 25-19, and 25-19.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 0 | Brandeis 3
RECORDS: Suffolk 7-14 | Brandeis 8-13

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Brandeis used early momentum to jump out to an 18-6 lead in the first set. Suffolk put together a brief comeback with five straight points, highlighted by a kill, a block, and a service ace from Chloe Clement to pull within eight, 19-11. The Judges, however, closed out the frame on a six-point service run from Isabella Irizarry to take the opener, 25-11.
  • The second set followed a similar script, as Brandeis built a 9-6 advantage early. Suffolk answered by winning eight of the next 10 points behind two kills and an ace from Emily Norgrove to grab its largest lead of the set at 14-11. The Judges responded with a 9-1 surge to reclaim control and force a Suffolk tiemout at 20-15. Despite late kills from Sam Michon and Grace Cervenka, the Rams came up short, 25-19.
  • Suffolk started strong in the third set, with Sami Shore and Michon teaming up for three early blocks to help the Rams jump ahead 5-1. The teams traded points until Brandeis knotted the score at 14-14, using a mix of kills from Madison Haft-Ambromovitch and Suffollk attack errors. Kills from Michon and Norgrove breifly pushed the Rams back in front, but a four-point rally gave the Judges an 18-16 lead from which Suffolk could not climb out of eventually falling 25-19.
