No. 30 Women’s Cross Country Concludes Historic Season at NCAA Championships

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – No. 30 Suffolk women's cross country put a bow on its record-setting season with the program's first-ever appearance at the NCAA Division III Championship Saturday at Roger Milikin Cross Country Course in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  

The Rams took the 6k course on a 68-degree morning with 78 percent humidity against 31 of the best DIII cross country teams in the country. The blue-and-gold compiled 764 points, good for 30th. 

No. 2 NYU wore the national championship crown with 79 points, while No. 1 Williams (106) and No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (133) rounded out the podium in second and third, respectively.  

RAMS RUNNERS

  • Sofia Moukaddem earned a spot inside the top-100 as the junior produced a time of 22:45.9 to take 94th. 
  • Senior Amy Pattelena closed her cross country career with a 171st-place performance thanks to time of 23:18.0. 
  • Grad student Grace Miller was right on Pattelena's heels as she came through the finisher's chute 15 seconds behind her teammate to capture 203rd. 
  • Chloe Koo's 25:15.8 put the freshman in 282nd. 
  • Sophomore Megan Dunn was Suffolk's final scorer in 289th (26:21.8) and her classmate Gina Cappello (290th) was the final runner to cross the finish line in 27:08.1. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk competed as a team at NCAA Championships for the first time in program history.
  • Suffolk is the first Conference of New England (CNE) team to compete at NCAAs. 
  • A Rams' runner was featured in the national championship field for the third time in program history, first since 2019.
