BOSTON – Suffolk men's ice hockey continues Conference of New England (CNE) play this weekend with a home-and-home rivalry series against Wentworth. The Rams open the set on the road in Everett on Friday, Jan. 16 at 6:30 p.m., before retuning to East Boston to host the Leopards on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 6:00 p.m. at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

RAMS RUNDOWN

  • Suffolk enters the weekend at 6-7-1 overall and 6-3-1 in CNE contests following a split with No. 7 UNE in which the Rams snapped a 12-game skid to the Nor'easters.
  • Suffolk's special teams rank 16th nationally on the penalty kill (88.2 percent) and 29th on the power play (22.4 percent).
  • Marko Giourof has 10 goals and seven assists and ranks second in the CNE in goals. Giourof has recorded seven goals and four assists over his last seven games.
  • Nolan Leonard owns four goals and 12 handouts for 16 points and ranks fourth in the conference in assists. 
  • Daniel McKiernan sits fifth in the league in goals with eight and has added four helpers to sit at 12 points. He has scored in back-to-back games and has three power play goals.
  • Austin McNicholas has started all 14 games, compiling a 6-7-1 record, 2.50 goals-against average, and a .885 save percentage with 270 saves.

LEOPARDS LOOK

  • Wentworth enters the series at 4-9-1 overall and 3-7-0 in CNE play following a split with Nichols this past weekend.
  • Ian Worthley leads the Leopards with three goals and seven points, while Xavier Vaillancourt serves as the top goal scorer with six tallies on the season.
  • Nicholas Ramm and George Kolovos have each contributed eight points on the campaign with identical four-goal, four-assist stat lines.
  • Jack McGovern has seen the majority of the time in net, making 10 starts and posting a 4-7-0 record to pair with a 3.12 goals against average a .903 save percentage.
  • Topher Chirico has appeared in three games and owns a .914 save percentage.

WE MEET AGAIN
Daniel McKiernan rattled off three goals and Austin McNicholas denied all 15 shots he faced for the pair to anchor Suffolk men's hockey's 5-0 Conference of the New England (CNE) shutout win over Wentworth Saturday at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.
