Women’s Soccer Battles Emerson to Scoreless Draw

BOSTON – Suffolk women's soccer and its Beantown neighbor Emerson battled back-and-forth Saturday afternoon at Rotch Field. Neither the Rams nor the Lions managed to find the back of the twin over the 90-minute regulation showdown, which ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Both goalies stopped all three attempts they faced in the first 45 minutes to keep zeros on the board as the teams went to the locker room. 
  • Just two minutes into the second half, Mackenzie Metka had a chance on target. The sophomore's shot was denied by Hailey Forman though and the contest remained scoreless. 
  • Neither team managed to get another attempt on net and the non-conference outing ended in a 0-0 tie.  

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

  • Arden Rose registered three goals in the shutout. 
  • Forman finished with four saves. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Suffolk took 17 shots, put four on target. 
  • Lily Goldmann recorded three shots, one on target. 
  • Annabel Veale logged two hots with one on net. 
  • The contest saw nine corner kicks, all of which were taken by Suffolk. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk has not conceded a goal through the first three games of the season for the second straight season. 
  • The Rams are unbeaten through the first three games for the second time in as many years. 
  • Suffolk has started the year with three straight shutouts for the second consecutive campaign. 
  • Rose recorded her second shutout in as many outings and in as many games played in her collegiate career. 
  • The tie is the first for Suffolk since it played Roger Williams to a scoreless draw Oct. 26, 2024. 
  • Suffolk moved to 2-7-1 all-time against Emerson. 
  • The Rams moved to 1-4-1 on the road versus the Lions. 
  • The draw was the first-ever in the Rams, Lions series. 
  • The decision was the third-ever shutout in the all-time series between Suffolk and Emerson, first since Sept. 16, 2014. 
  • Suffolk moved to 0-2-1 in shutouts against the Rams. 
  • The Rams blanked the Lions for the first time. 
  • Suffolk met its Boston Commons neighbor Emerson for the first time in the Ellie McDougall era.

The Rams are set to open their home slate Tuesday, Sept. 9 when Rivier stops by James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park for a 7:00 p.m. tilt.
