Second Half Surge Sends Women’s Soccer Past UMass Boston, 2-0

BOSTON – A pair of second-half strikes lifted Suffolk women's soccer to a 2-0 victory at crosstown rival UMass Boston Wednesday night. The Beantown bragging rights triumph, that closed the blue-and-gold's 2025 non-conference calendar, extended the Rams' win streak to three.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Both teams managed six shots in the first half but were unable to break through offensively.
  • Suffolk opened the second half on the front foot, earning three corner opportunities through the first 15 minutes.
  •  The breakthrough came in the 70th minute as Scarlett D'Amico delivered a corner to Avery Porter, who rose up and headed home the go-ahead goal.
  • The blue-and-gold secured the victory as Angelina Giovanni's quick throw sprung Lily Goldmann for a run and finish to double the advantage. 

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

  • Jaiden Wilds stopped three shots in the shutout and improved to 3-0-0 on the season.
  • Janiya Matier turned away eight shots for the Beacons. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Goldmann and Porter potted one goal apiece. 
  • D'Amico dished out the lone assist of the outing. 
  • Suffolk outshot UMass Boston, 16-11, and placed 10 on target compared to the Beacons' three.
  • Suffolk held the advantage in corners, 13-3.
  • Porter led the squad in shots (6) and shots on goal (3).
  • D'Amico, Goldmann, and Iza Peraza each tallied two shots on goal.

  • Tonight's outcome was Suffolk's sixth shutout of the season. 
  • The Rams and Beacons met for the third time in the series history.
  • It was the Rams first trip to the Beacons since Sep. 25, 2013.
  • Suffolk earned its first win over UMass Boston to even the all-time series at 1-1-1.
