BOSTON – The Suffolk women's soccer team extended its winning streak to four games with a 3-0 win over crosstown Conference of New England (CNE) rival, Wentworth Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Scarlett D'Amico opened the scoring 13:39 into the contest. She received a ball from a throw in, dribbled down the left wing and slotted her shot into the top right corner. 
  • The Rams doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute with a goal that nearly mirrored the first. Lily Goldmann carried the rock down the right wing and placed her shot into the opposite corner than D'Amico.
  • Avery Porter added an insurance tally for the blue-and-gold with a header from a corner swung in by Tatum Flynn with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation for the 3-0 final. 

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

  • Arden Rose stopped two shots in the contest.
  • Emily Gamboa Ordini and Shyla Kulesza split time between the posts and registered one save each. The former took the setback decision. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • D'Amico, Goldmann and Porter were responsible for Suffolk's scores with one goal apiece.
  • Flynn had the lone handout of the contest. 
  • Suffolk outshot Wentworth, 19-7, and put six on frame compared to the Leopards two.
  • The Rams held the advantage in corner opportunities, 5-1, with all attempts coming in the second half.
  • Daniela Petronio paced the team with four shots.
  • D'Amico and Porter put the most shots on frame. 

NOTEWORTHY

  1. Suffolk shutout its eighth opponent of the season. The clean sheet was the third in a row. 
  2. The 3-1-0 conference mark is the best through the first four contests since joining the CNE.
  3. The Rams and Leopards met for the fifth time in the series history.
  4. Suffolk moves to 4-1-0 against the Leopards.
  5. The blue-and-gold remains unbeaten at home against Wentworth with a 3-0-0 ledger.
  6. Today's decision marks the third clean sheet in the all-time series, all of which Suffolk has won. 
  7. Suffolk is now 3-1-0 versus Wentworth under head coach Ellie McDougall.
  8. D'Amico notched her first Suffolk goal. 
  9. Porter pushed her career-best point streak to four games (3g, 1a). 
  10. Porter's fourth goal of the season matches a season-best set during the 2023-24 campaign.
  11. Flynn stretched her point streak to four games with three assists and one goal over the period.
  12. Goldmann extended her point streak to a career-best three games and has three goals and one assist during that stretch.
  13. Rose improved to 5-1-1 and picked up her fifth clean sheet of the campaign.

Suffolk get an extended break before returning to action on Saturday, Oct. 11 with a road matchup against Roger Williams set for 3:00 p.m.
