BOSTON – Suffolk women's ice hockey's eighth season opener pits the Rams against Conference of New England (CNE) counterpart Curry Friday, Nov. 7 at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink. The showdown is game one of a home-and-home series that closes Saturday, Nov. 8 at Canton Ice House at 4:00 p.m.

RAPID REWIND
Suffolk women's ice hockey played its way back to the Conference of New England (CNE) postseason last season after a year hiatus behind a 7-10-1 league ledger. The Rams exited the league tournament in the semifinals to end the year 10-16-1 overall, the program's sixth season with double-digit wins.
All-CNE Second-Team selection Bella Schmidt paced Suffolk's 75-goal offense with 10 goals and eight assists of her own. The junior is one of six Rams with double-digit stat lines from last season back on the blue-and-gold's line chart this year along with forwards Alexia Hill (5g, 10a), Jenna Caballero (1g, 13a), Anya Nichipor (3g, 10a), and Cassie Borowski (6g, 6a) and defenseman Liliana Moose (5g, 9a).
RAMS ROOKIES
Suffolk women's ice hockey will get have new faces on the 2025-26 squad as third-year head coach Abby Ostrom brought in a 10-member recruiting class.
The group is comprised of seven true freshmen – Briana Anundsen, Ava Buckley and her sister Leah Buckley, Lucy Cantin, Marin Healey, Talia Stein-Trujillo, and Shirley Whitmore – grad transfer Ava Calabria, who comes to Beantown from Salem State, and a pair of sophomore transfer sisters from Plattsburgh State, Emma Holmes and Julia Holmes.

GEOGRAPHY 101
The blue and gold's 25-player roster represents 12 U.S. states, one Canadian province, and one international country.
Massachusetts leads the way with five Rams calling the Bay State home, followed by two apiece from New Jersey, Wisconsin, and New York. The roster also features players from Texas, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Missouri, Oregon, Michigan, California, and Washington. Beyond the U.S., Suffolk's reach extends north to Ontario and overseas to Australia.
CLASS RANKS
Suffolk's squad features a youthful core complemented by experienced mentor leadership. Of the Rams' 25 players, nine are sophomores and seven are freshmen, making underclassmen account for more than half of the roster. That young group is guided by five juniors, three seniors, and one graduate student.
PUCK POSITIONS
When broken down by position, Suffolk's roster features 14 forwards, eight defensemen, and three goaltenders.
RAMS RINGLEADERS
Suffolk women's ice hockey will see three Rams wear the 'C' as third-year head coach Abby Ostrom has named Jenna Caballero, Liliana Moose and Katie Newkirk as captains for the 2025-26 campaign.
The group is the first-ever trio to wear a letter in the program's eight-year history and inaugural tri-captains to share the leadership responsibilities. Each captain earned the role for the first time in their collegiate career.
The trio is part of a growing tradition of Suffolk women's ice hockey captains, with the program beginning to designate team leaders in 2020. Since then, nine Rams have sported a letter.

OSTROM OUTLOOK
Abby Ostrom enters her second season at the helm of Suffolk women's hockey. Hired in August 2023, the former Trinity standout became the second head coach in program history, taking over the reins of the Rams' young and growing program.
The third-year head coach will be aided by second-year assistant coach Katie Gaskin and first-year assistant coach Elice Murphy.
OPENING ACT
- The Rams are 3-4-0 in season debuts dating back to 2018.
- Suffolk fell to #13 Utica, 1-0, in last season's opener.
- The Rams will open their home slate for the first time since the 2021-22 season.
- Suffolk is a perfect 2-0-0 in season openers played on home ice.
- Since Abby Ostrom took the helm, the blue-and-gold has gone 0-2-0 in debuts.
- Suffolk is 1-4-0 on the road in the first outing of the year.

COLONELS CATCH UP
- Suffolk swept Manhattanville in a two-game series last weekend to bring a 2-0-0 mark into the Suffolk series.
- Grace Inoue (2g, 1a) and Morgan Slough (1g, 1a) are the only skaters with multiple points through the first two games.
- Darby Marshall, Bella Mardeisch and Kylie Harrison round out the Colonels' goal scorers with one apiece.
- Megan Sawatzky, Tommi Nash, Anna Kahl, Aria Kader and Ava Doyle have produced one point each on one helper.
- Coriann Hoag has played both games in net for Curry. She sports a 0.50 GAA and .977 save percentage with one clean sheet.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Suffolk is 9-3-1 all-time against Curry.
- The Rams sport a 4-2-1 record at home versus the Colonels and are, 5-1-0, on the road in the series.
