CANTON, Mass. – Suffolk women's ice hockey scored a pair of two goals in a x-span in the first period to take an early lead it never let go of en route to a 2-1 Conference of New England (CNE) win over Curry Friday night at Canton Ice House. The victory snapped a 10-game winless for the blue-and-gold.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Curry may have controlled the pace of play in the first, as it outshot Suffolk, 23-9, but it was the Rams that went into the locker room with a 2-0 lead.
- The first goal came as Katie Newkirk caused a turnover in the Colonels' zone and took the puck herself. The senior captain sniped a shot by Sarah Kerr 8:15 into the action.
- Just over two minutes later, Anya Nichipor put away Laurel Potter's rebound to double the distance.
- Following a scoreless second, Curry made things interesting as it produced a power play goal with 5:57 to go in the third.
- Katelyn Michals stood on her head the rest of the way as she denied all six of the Colonels final attempts to preserve the conference victory.
